What is it that drives us to seek companionship?

Just me... single and rambling
Posted on : 10-08-06

Music does. But not music like the shit they play on the radio every day in Atlanta.... but universal music... waves... energy.... what we are built from.

Each one of us is living energy.... a mass of atoms vibrating... and I think we each resonate at our preferred tone....

And what better to accompany a note?

Another note... but not the same note entirely.. a note off from where we are... a note that compliments ours... and that when we put them together, forms a chord. And not one of those nasty sounding chords.. I mean a nice chord.. a major chord.. a third or a fifth...someone who in essence... makes us sound good just by standing near us.

That's my really dumbed down theory in a nutshell. I can go on but at some point it might turn to rambling.

Of course there's a completely different vein of thought.. where-as humans seek to make more humans.. and keep the whole cycle of life going... but as our brains evolve, and as culture evolves... it's becomes harder and harder to find someone you can honestly look at and say to yourself... "yeah, i can see myself with this woman when I'm 60"

That's the base level.. the reptile level.. the part of the brain that says "make more" and has no reasonable accounting for what comes next.

The third reason would be that we are social animals, and although sometimes we hate to admit it, but we couldn't get as much done if we were working alone than if we are working together as a team... and since I believe most of us want to achieve something greater then we are... it's natural to assume that we wouldn't mind some help along the way.

The fourth reason is because cuddling and kissing are fun... and sometimes the dog just doesn't feel like cuddling.. and you sure as hell don't want to kiss it.

The fifth reason is because sometimes we see ourselves through our friends and loved ones... in ways we just didn't have the ability to see, and having someone so close to you.. that they can see through all your bullshit.. is actually comforting in a way... and helps you realize this really isn't all just a dream.

And sixth, because being loved by someone who not only vibrates complimentary to you, but someone who understands you and excepts you for who you are... well i could wax poetic here.... but suffice to say... it just feels so damn good.
