LateNet was started in 1999 by Shawn Millar and Chris Eaton (Cheaton) in an effort to take advantage of new web media streaming capabilities and have some fun along the way. Over the course of about a year and half, they streamed live improvised talks shows, live music programs, and radio shows several nights a week. At the peak, they streamed Monday through Friday nights and had over 20 guest hosts and musicians in the studio. Check out the Live Archives for over 100 hours of programing.
Both Shawn and Chris grew up in the Atlanta, Georgia area. Shawn still resides in Stone Mountain with his wife Deisha Oliver-Millar and step daughter Lily, and Chris has moved up to Cleveland, Ohio with his wife and soon to be two kids.
1999 & 2000 were creative and productive years, leading to several band projects as well. The LateNet Boys and Divine Engine got their starts in the LateNet studios and old tracks can be heard in the Music Archive. The LateNet studio was finally closed up in 2001 with the completion of the Divine Engine recordings, and everyone seemed to wander off in their own directions. They all still keep in touch, and occasionally get together and jam and play some old tunes together.
Since then, LateNet.com has become a testing ground and play server for Shawn on new projects and design efforts. Shawn has been working in Marketing and Web Design since 2000 for various small to mid-sized businesses, and Chris has continued his career in I.T.
LateNet will stick around for a while, as a reminder of past parties, and as Shawn’s personal play site. His wife, Deisha is an incredible designer, marketing expert, artist promoter, and she runs her own business... Bang Arts Management and Promotions. Her page can seen at BangArts.com.
